Where to find him
Find the rooms nearest you
Four consulting locations across north-western and northern Sydney. Each is booked through its own practice, so the number beside it is the one to call.
Procedures are performed at Norwest Private Hospital, Macquarie University Hospital and Pennant Hills Day Surgery. Patients seen at any of the four rooms can be booked at any of the three, and the facility is confirmed when the procedure is booked rather than left to the day.

Where endoscopy is performed
Endoscopy is performed at three facilities, and patients seen at any consulting location can be booked at any of the three. A/Prof Kariyawasam is a visiting medical officer at Norwest Private Hospital and at Macquarie University Hospital, and he holds a visiting honorary medical officer appointment with the inflammatory bowel disease service at Concord Repatriation General Hospital.
Worth noting that Pennant Hills Day Surgery is a separate building from the Pennant Hills consulting rooms, which are on Ramsay Road about a kilometre away, so a consultation and a procedure there are at different addresses.
Which facility is used depends on your clinical situation, the procedure planned, where you are seen and your cover, and your own preference counts as well. It is worked out with you at the consultation. There is more on what a colonoscopy involves and what it costs on its own page.
Public hospital
Concord Repatriation General Hospital
Inflammatory bowel disease clinic
A/Prof Kariyawasam sees public patients in the inflammatory bowel disease clinic at Concord Repatriation General Hospital, where he holds a visiting honorary medical officer appointment with the Department of Gastroenterology.
This clinic is for people with Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis or with suspected inflammatory bowel disease. Other gastroenterology problems are seen in the general clinics at the hospital or privately at one of the four rooms above.
Referrals can be addressed to A/Prof Viraj Kariyawasam, Concord Hospital IBD clinic. There is no fee for a public clinic appointment, and appointments are made by the hospital rather than through the private rooms.
